The Countryside and Rights of Way Panel met to discuss a request to authorise the making of a definitive map modification order, and an application to upgrade several public footpaths to byways open to all traffic (boats) or restricted byways. The panel voted to delegate authority to make definitive map modification orders to the Director of Finance and Resources. They also voted to approve some of the requested upgrades to public footpaths, and reject others.

The Staffordshire Council Property Sub-Committee convened to discuss land transfers for St. Bernadette's Catholic Primary School and St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, as well as a lease variation for Alleyne's Academy Stone. The committee approved the transfer of land for both primary schools to the Birmingham Roman Catholic Diocese trustees. Additionally, they approved a variation of the academy lease for Alleyne's Academy Stone to permit subletting of a portion of the site to Stone Old Alleynians Football Club.

Countryside and Rights of Way Panel - Friday 8th August 2025 10:00am

The Countryside Rights of Way Panel met to discuss definitive map modification orders, and an application to register land as a town or village green. The panel voted to defer a decision on delegating authority to the Director of Finance and Resources to make definitive map modification orders when directed to do so by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The panel voted to approve a definitive map modification order to upgrade public footpath eight at Waterhouses to a public bridleway, and to approve an application to upgrade several public footpaths in Waterhouses to public bridleways and add a public bridleway from Steps Cottage to the A523 Waterhouses. Finally, the panel voted to approve an application to register land bounded by Newcastle Road, Coalpit Hill and Thomas Street Talk, Newcastle Under Lyme, as town or village green.
