Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 17th December, 2024 7.30 pm

The committee heard from Centre 404 and Mildmays Extra Care about the accommodation that they provide for vulnerable people, reviewed the performance of the London Ambulance Service and considered the annual report of the Islington Safeguarding Adults Board. The committee also heard a performance update on the council's Public Health objectives for Quarter 1 2024-25 and considered their work programme for the year.

The Licensing Committee meeting on 17 December 2024 included an agenda item on the proposed changes to the membership of one of its Licensing Sub-Committees, as well as the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting.

Council - Thursday, 12th December, 2024 7.15 pm

At the meeting on 12 December, the council made a number of decisions. The council approved the adoption of a new Council Tax Support Scheme. Councillors voted to note the annual Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report. Councillors noted the political balance of the council, following the results of a by-election and the recent formation of the Independent and Green Group. Councillors voted to adopt an updated constitution, and approved a series of new committee appointments. Finally, councillors discussed and then voted to adopt two motions: one on giving refugees time to resettle, and a second on winter fuel allowance.

Licensing Sub Committee C - Tuesday, 10th December, 2024 7.45 pm

The meeting was about applications for new licences and variations to existing licences. It included reports on four different venues. Three of the applications were for new licences and one was for a variation to an existing licence. All of the applications included proposals to sell alcohol. The report pack does not tell us what was actually discussed, or whether any decisions were actually made.

Extraordinary, Council - Tuesday, 19th November, 2024 6.30 pm, NEW

Councillor Una O'Halloran was elected as the new leader of Islington Council. She is the first leader of the council to have been born and raised in the borough, and the first to have been a lifelong council tenant. She was elected unanimously by councillors after being proposed and seconded by Labour councillors, and welcomed by councillors from the Green party.
