Agenda
The meeting began with a recitation of the Quran by the Mayor's Faith Leader, Ali Jafri. The Council then approved an update to the council's capital spending plans, despite some abstentions from Conservative councillors. Two motions were then considered. The first, proposed by the Labour administration, was a general statement in support of children's safety and wellbeing and was passed despite opposition from the Conservative group. The second, proposed by the Conservatives, expressed concern at the loss of winter fuel payments for many pensioners and called on the Council to take steps to provide for those affected. This motion was defeated, with the Conservatives voting in favour and Labour against. The meeting concluded with the reception of reports from several committees.
Agenda
The meeting saw the Executive agree to all of the recommendations made by the four committees that reported to it. These included approval for a new grounds maintenance contract, updates to the Housing Revenue Account business plan and highway maintenance programme, and plans for a new school and community facilities in Nine Elms.
Agenda and decisions
The Children's Committee noted reports from the Youth Council and on services for families affected by Domestic Abuse. The committee also noted a report on the Dedicated Schools Grant and approved the continuation of a project to build a new school and community facility in Nine Elms Battersea, while abstaining on a decision to approve additional funding for the project. Finally, the committee noted the Quarter 1 2024/25 budget monitoring report.
Agenda and decisions
The Board agreed the recommendations in each of the reports on the agenda. These included holding the Council and health partners to account for the implementation of the new Autism Spectrum Disorder Emerging Needs Pathway, to sign off the Better Care Fund Plan end-of-year review, to note the activities delivered as part of the Health and Care plan, and to note the findings of the Homelessness Health Needs Assessment. It also agreed with the Director of Public Health's proposals for coordinating the delivery of the Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and to note that the interactive, semi-automated Joint Strategic Needs Assessment products were now live. Finally, it approved the revised Terms of Reference and noted the work programme.
