The primary focus was on applications for premises licences for Pretty Earth and 147 Blackstock Road, as well as a representation against interim steps for Sumiya. The meeting also included standard items such as the election of a chair, apologies for absence, declarations of interest, and approval of the minutes from the previous meeting.

Licensing Sub Committee E Substitute

The Hackney Council Licensing Sub-Committee E convened to address concerns regarding several Temporary Event Notices (TENs) submitted for Hatch Homerton, a cafe bar located at Unit G2, 8 Mackintosh Lane, London E9 6AB. The committee decided to issue counter notices for all four TENs, effectively preventing the proposed events from taking place. Councillor Gilbert Smyth was elected as Chair of the meeting.

Pensions Committee Committee Member

Pensions Committee - Tuesday 23 September 2025 6.30 pm

The Hackney Council Pensions Committee convened to discuss several key items, including the approval of the Funding Strategy Statement and associated policies, updates on the migration of pension administration services, and the review of the 2024/25 Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Report. The committee also reviewed the Quarterly Business Plan and Governance, and received updates on investment performance and responsible investment activities. All recommendations put before the committee were approved.

Council - Wednesday 17 September 2025 7.00 pm

The Hackney Council meeting on 17 September 2025 included discussion of climate change initiatives, scrutiny reports, and a motion regarding the two-child benefit cap, which was ultimately rejected. Councillors also approved the annual update on decarbonisation commitments, the Overview and Scrutiny annual report, the Standards Committee annual report, and noted decisions taken under special urgency provisions.
