The Licensing Sub Committee B met to consider a new premises licence application for KB Home Store, 26 Chapel Market, London, N1 9EZ. The committee heard from two local residents who objected to the application, and ultimately decided to grant the licence with conditions.
Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 2nd September, 2025 7.30 pm
The Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the North London NHS Foundation Trust's annual performance, review witness evidence related to life expectancy, and review the Quarter 4 performance report for public health. The committee noted the North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) annual performance report and discussed actions to improve performance against key performance indicators. The committee also discussed strategies for reducing drug-related deaths and alcohol-related harm, and reviewed public health performance against targets, including vaccination rates and access to smoking cessation services.

The Islington Council Licensing Committee convened on 14 July 2025, confirming the minutes of their previous meeting and amending the membership of Licensing Sub-Committee D. Councillor Nurullah Turan was appointed as the Vice-Chair of Licensing Sub-Committee D.

At a meeting of Islington Council, councillors discussed a range of issues including the impact of government cuts, the importance of social value in procurement, and support for private renters. Councillors voted to support motions on embedding social value and compliance in procurement, supporting private renters, and recognising the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and the local campaign to save the Upper Street Post Office. An original motion opposing cuts to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) was amended and then carried.

The Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee met to discuss adult social care, public health, and the work programme for the coming year. The committee agreed the final report on adult social care accommodation from the previous year, and approved the scrutiny initiation document for the coming year, which will focus on life expectancy in the borough. Members also heard from Healthwatch Islington about their annual report and work programme, and discussed the latest performance report from adult social care.
