At a meeting of the Waltham Forest Council, councillors approved an updated Local Development Scheme and declared a Nature Emergency in the borough. The council also paid tribute to former Councillor Mohammad Asghar, father of Councillor Naheed Asghar, Portfolio Lead Member - Inclusive Economy, who had recently passed away.

Children and Families Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025 7.00 pm

The Children and Families Scrutiny Committee were scheduled to meet on Wednesday 2 April 2025 to discuss a scrutiny report, making care experienced young people a protected characteristic, and the attendance policy. The meeting was due to take place at Waltham Forest Town Hall. The agenda for the meeting was published on 25 March 2025.

Special Meeting: Annual Budget and Council Tax Setting, Council - Thursday, 27th February, 2025 7.30 pm

This meeting is scheduled to cover a wide range of financial matters, including the Council's budget for 2025-26, the rates at which it will charge fees for its services, its plans to invest in new buildings and infrastructure and the pay of its employees. The meeting is also scheduled to include the appointment of Paul Calaminus to the Health and Wellbeing Board.

Audit and Governance Committee - Wednesday, 29th January, 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting was scheduled to consider the external auditor's reports on the Council's and Pension Fund accounts for 2021-22 and 2022-23, and to note the external auditor's draft report on the 2023-24 accounts. Also for discussion was the Council's Treasury Management Strategy, Minimum Revenue Provision Policy Statement and Annual Investment Strategy for 2025-26, an update on the Corporate Anti-Fraud Team's work, an update on the delivery of the 2024-25 Internal Audit plan and a verbal update on The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

Children and Families Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting of the Children and Families Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to include updates on a variety of topics relating to Children and Families, including the provision of childcare for families, a report on complaints about Children's Social Care, and the adoption of the Youth Justice Plan.
