The Hertfordshire County Council meeting on Tuesday 17 February 2026 saw the adoption of the Budget and Medium-Term Financial Strategy for 2026/27 to 2029/30, which includes a 2.99% Council Tax increase plus a 2% Adult Social Care precept. The Employment Committee of Hertfordshire Council met on Tuesday 27 January 2026 to discuss and approve the council's pay policy for the upcoming financial year, review its pay principles and structures, and address the recruitment of a Programme Director for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) transition. Key decisions included endorsing the pay policy for 2026-2027, approving adjustments to pay structures for specific roles within the Organisational Leadership Job Family, and agreeing to the creation and recruitment process for a Programme Director for LGR transition. County Council - Tuesday, 9 December 2025 10.00 am
The Hertfordshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including a petition to keep street lights on at night, devolution, and revisions to the council's constitution. At an extraordinary meeting of Hertfordshire County Council, held on 26 November 2025, 19 former councillors were appointed as honorary aldermen in recognition of their service to the county. The meeting, which was the last to be held in the Council Chamber at County Hall in Hertford, before meetings move to the Stevenage Campus, began with a brief introduction from Councillor Laurence Brass, Chairman of the Council, on the history and tradition of appointing honorary aldermen. The meeting concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
