The Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss and approve the proposed budget scrutiny programme for 2026-27 and to review and update the scrutiny work programme for 2025-26, adding topics for future review. The committee agreed to a two-day format for evidence gathering, supported new member training, and prioritised topics such as mobile phone bans in schools, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) staffing, and a scrutiny review of infrastructure and sustainable transport.

Pensions Committee - Friday, 26 September 2025 10.00 am

The Hertfordshire County Council Pensions Committee met on 26 September 2025 to discuss employer risk and governance, performance reports, and the pension fund risk register. The committee noted the contents of several reports, including the Hertfordshire Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Fire Pension Scheme (FPS) Q1 2025/26 LPPA Performance Report, and the Investment Performance Report as at 30 June 2025. The committee also moved into a closed session to discuss specific investment matters and due diligence.

County Council - Tuesday, 22 July 2025 10.00 am

The Hertfordshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including political proportionality, traffic congestion, youth justice, and local government reorganisation, and ultimately voted to continue exploring options for local government reorganisation, while also agreeing to re-establish a youth parliament. The council also paid tribute to former Councillor Alan Plancy, MBE, who recently passed away.

Special Meeting, Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 9 July 2025 8.30 am

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to consider a call-in request regarding the Cabinet's decision to market County Hall for alternative uses and relocate democratic meetings. The committee was scheduled to hear statements from Councillor Alexander Curtis, a main signatory of the call-in, and Scott Crudgington, the Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Resources, before opening up the discussion to its members. The committee was then expected to debate the issue and make a decision.

The Hertfordshire Council Pensions Committee met on 7 July 2025 to discuss the pension fund audit plan, the risk register, Local Pensions Partnership Administration (LPPA) performance, employer risk and governance, training and investment performance. The meeting was scheduled to include both public and closed sessions, with the latter focusing on investment performance and local government pension scheme (LGPS) pooling.
