Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Friday 30th January, 2026 10.00 am

The Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to discuss updates on the Start Well Paediatric Surgery Programme and the merger of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. The committee was also set to review the progress and outcomes of the NCL Inequalities Fund.

Council - Tuesday 27th January, 2026 7.00 pm

The Council meeting on Tuesday 27 January 2026 saw the reintroduction of weekly separate food waste collections, a commitment from the Labour administration. The meeting also addressed the critical issue of substance misuse among care-experienced young people, with a motion passed to develop a dedicated strategy.

Extraordinary Council, Council - Tuesday 2nd December, 2025 7.00 pm

The extraordinary meeting of Barnet Council was called to discuss a motion regarding secrecy and failures in corporate parenting following the deaths of three care-experienced young people. The council agreed to strengthen briefing protocols for members and ensure that all corporate parents are immediately informed of any event involving looked-after young persons which may reasonably be expected to require an inquest. An amendment to the motion calling for the resignation of the Leader of the Council and the Cabinet Member for Family Friendly Barnet was rejected.

Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Friday 21st November, 2025 10.00 am

The North Central London Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the NHS 10 Year Health Plan, winter planning for 2025/26, and an update from the London Ambulance Service. Councillor Pippa Connor, Chair of the committee, was scheduled to chair the meeting. Councillors Philip Cohen and Paul Edwards were also listed as attendees.

Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Wednesday 5th November, 2025 7.00 pm

The Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee met to discuss adult social care, food security, and NHS performance, among other topics. The committee approved the recommendations of the Food Security Task and Finish Group for referral to the Cabinet, and noted the Adult Social Care Annual Complaints Report. The Sub-Committee also discussed the Cabinet Forward Plan and the Adults and Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee Work Programme.
