Hackney Council's Cabinet decided on 24/04/2023 to adopt the Hackney Central Town Centre Strategy and accept £19.04m of Levelling Up Fund capital funding. The Cabinet agreed to enter into a grant agreement for this funding on terms to be agreed by specific Group Directors and the Director of Legal, Democratic and Electoral Services.

This decision withdraws permitted development rights for changes of use from Class E to residential in Hackney's Central Activities Zone, City Fringe, and Major Town Centres. The decision agreed to require planning applications for these changes of use to ensure proper planning and protect the borough's economy and amenities.
