Update on Application for The Cambridge South East Transport Order and The Council's Statement of Case

To provide Members with an update on the application made by Cambridgeshire County Council on behalf of the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) for The Cambridge South East Transport Order under the Transport and Works Act (TWA)(1992). It provides an update on progress resolving matters raised by the Council in its initial representation and seeks delegated authority to the Joint Director in consultation with the Lead Cabinet Member for Economic Development to finalise and submit the Statement of Case by 18 July 2025.

South Cambridgeshire District Council has received a request for Community Asset Transfer of the Unity Centre from Northstowe Town Council. The submission was received following an invitation made by South Cambridgeshire District Council to any eligible community-based organisation with a local connection to put forward a proposal to become the centre’s operator. This was prompted by receipt of an initial proposal (27 February 2025) from the Town Council, triggering the Community Asset Transfer process.

Community Growing Small Grant KPDPJWKL

The purpose of this decision is to award funding to Cambridge City Football Club in Sawston to establish a community garden at the Cambridge City Football Club Community Stadium. A previously unused plot of land has been allocated for the project, which will involve the purchase of bulbs, plants, herbs, raised beds, gardening tools, and equipment. The garden will be maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers, with produce shared among those helping to maintain the space and with visitors to the stadium. Any surplus will be distributed to local community kitchens.   Application Ref. KPDPJWKL Grant award £500.
