Strategic Planning Committee - Thursday 4th September, 2025 7.00 pm
At a meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee, Barnet Council resolved to approve plans for a new hotel in West Finchley, and for reserved matters relating to a residential development adjacent to Finchley Memorial Hospital. The committee agreed to conditions for the Shakespeare Road development relating to public realm improvements, fenestration, and vehicle servicing, and for the Finchley Memorial Hospital development relating to urban design and secure design.
Licensing Sub-Committee - Thursday 14th August, 2025 10.30 am
The Licensing Sub-Committee granted a new premises licence with amendments to Vsands Trading Ltd, allowing them to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises between 10:00 and 23:00, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays; and to open to the public between 07:00 and 23:30, with extended hours until 01:00 on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve/Day and bank holidays. The decision followed a hearing where concerns were raised by a local resident regarding potential crime and disorder. Several conditions were added to the licence to address these concerns.
Strategic Planning Committee - Wednesday 23rd July, 2025 7.00 pm, NEW
The Strategic Planning Committee of Barnet Council approved an outline planning application for the redevelopment of the Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware, including the bus station, bus garage, Redhill Clinic and Deansbrook Nature Reserve. The decision is subject to referral to the Mayor of London and a Section 106 agreement. A motion to defer the application was rejected.
Licensing Sub-Committee - Tuesday 22nd July, 2025 10.30 am
The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to review an application for a new premises licence for Atmosphere Restaurant at 218 Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware. The committee ultimately decided not to grant the licence, citing concerns about potential public nuisance due to noise and the applicant's failure to provide adequate evidence to mitigate these concerns. Councillor Claire Farrier was appointed Chairman for the meeting.
Licensing Sub-Committee - Tuesday 22nd July, 2025 11.30 am
The Licensing Sub-Committee convened to consider an application for a variation of a premises licence for The Coffee Place & Breakfast. The committee decided to grant the application, allowing for extended hours for alcohol sales and opening times, as well as a change of the premises name. The decision was made after considering the report of the Licensing Manager, representations from the applicant and a local resident, and relevant licensing objectives.
