The Children's Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss school finances, review performance indicators, and plan for a new approach to scrutiny. Councillors examined the Dedicated Schools Grant recovery strategy, the Children's Services end-of-year performance, and the general fund outturn position, as well as agreeing a new work programme.

Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education

Agenda

The Wandsworth Borough Council Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) met on 9 June 2025 to discuss the curriculum and assessment review, feedback from various NASACRE events, and faith trails. A workshop session was also scheduled to take place, using NASACRE resources to consider the effectiveness of Wandsworth’s SACRE and the quality of RE. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the Buddhapadipa Temple, a Thai Buddhist temple in Wimbledon.

The Wandsworth Schools Forum met to discuss the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG), therapy provisions, and emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Gareth Evans, Assistant Director Children’s Finance, was scheduled to present reports on the DSG outturn and recovery, while Zarah Lowe, Lead Commissioner for Education, SEND and Health, was set to provide an update on therapy provision. Andy Fish, Inclusion Service Manager, was expected to present a proposal for an EBSA outreach pilot project.

This meeting of Wandsworth Council's SACRE was to include the presentation of the body's annual report for 2023/24, and feedback on recent events it had organised. The meeting was also to include time for the committee to consider its own work.
