Special (Joint meeting with Environment and Sustainable Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee), Economy and Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Monday 13 October 2025 1.30 pm

This was a special joint meeting of the Economy and Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Environment and Sustainable Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The main item for discussion was a report and presentation on fuel poverty in County Durham. Councillors were expected to comment on the report and presentation, and to consider receiving a further update on fuel poverty at a future meeting.

Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board - Thursday 31 July 2025 2.00 pm

The Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board were scheduled to meet to discuss the Reform Interim Priorities and Council Plan. The report pack included a recommendation to note the proposed framework as the interim strategic direction of the council’s priorities, and to contribute to the consultation of the proposed framework to inform the development on a new council plan for 2025-2030. This plan is intended to reflect the priorities of the new administration following the local elections in May 2025.

County Council - Wednesday 16 July 2025 10.00 am

Durham County Council met on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, for a meeting that included a report from the leader, questions from the public, and discussion of the Corporate Parenting Panel Annual Report. Councillors also voted against extending the time allocated to motions, and ultimately voted to rescind the Climate Emergency Declaration made in 2019, in favour of declaring a County Durham Care Emergency.

Special, Area Planning Committee (Central and East) - Tuesday 24 June 2025 1.00 pm

The Area Planning Committee (Central and East) met to consider planning applications for a retail development at Thinford Park and the removal of a planning condition at a boutique bed and breakfast.

Area Planning Committee (South and West) - Thursday 19 June 2025 1.00 pm

The Area Planning Committee (South and West) were scheduled to discuss three planning applications at their meeting. These included a mixed-use development at Aycliffe Business Park, a change of use application to turn a residential dwelling into a children's home, and a request to remove a holiday occupancy restriction on a rural holiday lodge.
