The council voted to recommend that the cabinet consider the importance of town and parish councils, that full constituent membership of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) would be the best arrangement, and that a single unitary council for Warwickshire is the optimum model for local governance. Amendments to the proposals were put forward but were all rejected.
Extraordinary Meeting, County Council - Tuesday 14 October 2025 10.00 am
The Warwickshire County Council convened to bestow the title of Honorary Freeman of the County upon Councillor Jerry Roodhouse in recognition of his decades of public service. This rare honour, the highest civic distinction the council can award, acknowledges Councillor Roodhouse's significant contributions to the community, particularly in Rugby, and his work on behalf of Warwickshire at a national level. The council voted unanimously to approve the recommendation, and a ceremonial presentation will be arranged at a later date.
