The Hackney Council meeting on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, saw the approval of the 2026/27 budget and Council Tax rates, with a 4.99% increase for Hackney residents. A key decision was the adoption of the right to grow principle, committing the council to work with community groups to identify and make suitable council-owned land available for food cultivation. The council also noted the fourth and final annual update of its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, highlighting progress made in housing, tackling poverty, and climate action.

Audit Committee - Tuesday, 24 February 2026 - 6.30 pm

The Audit Committee of Hackney Council met on Tuesday 24 February 2026 to review the External Audit Completion Report for 2024/25 and to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. The committee approved the recommendations within the External Audit Completion Report, which included authorising the Group Director of Finance and Corporate Resources to approve the final Statement of Accounts for 2024/25, pending the completion of outstanding work by the external auditor.

Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 10 February 2026 7.00 pm

The Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission of Hackney Council was scheduled to review housing support for families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and receive an update on housing support for care leavers. The commission was also due to receive a verbal update on behaviour management and school inclusion, and to note the work programme for the remainder of the municipal year.
