Silsden HGV Restriction – proposed 7.5T weight restriction (except for access).

Purpose
Approval for the preparation and advertisement
of a Traffic Regulation Order to facilitate a 7.5T weight
restriction covering Silsden and the surrounding area between the
A629 trunk road, A65 Addingham Wharfedale Road, North Yorkshire
County Boundary and Ilkley Moor. These restrictions are aimed at
reducing HGV vehicle movements through Silsden, limiting them to
access only. The 22km alternative route for HGVs travelling to/from
Wharfedale and beyond will be via the A629/A65 at
Skipton.
At present there are a high number of HGVs using Silsden. These can
cause traffic build up due to the narrow geometry of the A6034 and
parked vehicles making passing difficult at certain pinch points.
These larger vehicles also affect noise, vibration, and air
pollution within the town centre due to traffic build up and the
reduction in free flow conditions.
Access will still be available for HGVs whose destination is within
the zone.
