Purpose

Approval for amendments to the operational
hours and extents of an existing School Street
(Kensington Street) at Girlington Primary.
The Council implemented a ‘School Street’ at Girlington
Primary School in 2021 whereby
the street adjacent to the school (Kensington Street) is closed to
vehicular traffic for short
periods at school start and finish times.
The school has informed the Council that it will be changing its
opening times from
September 2024 and as such the existing Traffic Regulation Order
(TRO) and existing
signs located at the site will require amending. The length of the
existing restrictions has
also been reviewed with the school and it is considered that the
shortening of this length
would also be more appropriate. A new revised TRO would need to be
processed in order
to facilitate the proposed changes.
Currently the restrictions are for a length of 250 metres on
Kensington Street from its
junction with Thorn Street to its junction with Birch Street. The
new proposals to shorten the
restriction will be for a length of 82 metres on Kensington Street,
from the boundary line of
No.152 Kensington Street, up to its junction with Birch Street. The
new timings will restrict
vehicles from entering the restriction area from 8:15 - 9:20am in
the morning to cover
school start times and 2:40 – 3:25pm in the afternoon to
cover the school finishing period.

i) That authorisation be given to prepare and
advertise a Traffic Regulation Order
for the School Street prohibition of driving restriction on
Kensington Street,
Bradford.
ii) That any valid objections to the Orders be submitted to the
Strategic Director
Place and Portfolio Holder - Regeneration, Planning and Transport
for
consideration or, in the event of there being no valid objections
the Order be
sealed and implemented as advertised.
