Local Community Support Grants - 1 Year Extension
August 5, 2025 Director Adult Social Care Health (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To extend the Local Community Support Grants
for 1 year.
The Care Act 2014 means the Council has a duty of prevention and is
required to take action to prevent, delay and/ or reduce the care
and support needs for people.
There are 109 projects awarded a grant across the district,
supporting people to reduce isolation and loneliness to help them
live happier fulfilling lives, and reducing and/or delaying the
likelihood for adult social care support.
There will be minimal to no operational impact from this proposal,
whilst continuing to ensure that people receiving support from the
groups will continue to have this in their local areas.
Content
Approval to extend the Local Community Support
Grants for 1 year.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 - Approve Extension for 1 year
There are 109 projects awarded a grant across the district,
supporting people to reduce isolation and loneliness to help them
live happier fulfilling lives, and reducing and/or delaying the
likelihood for adult social care support.
Option 2 - Discontinue grants
This would mean a disruption in preventative support for people,
which could lead to people’s health needs escalating, causing
need for further Adult Social Care support.
Option 3 - Run an open grants process
This is a lengthy process and some of the grants awarded are to new
projects who have used this year to get started. This would mean a
disruption in the service for people and a lengthy process for our
providers, many of whom are small organisations with limited
resources.
