PETITION REGARDING TRAFFIC SPEEDS AND SAFETY ON BANKFIELD ROAD, SHIPLEY

Resolved –
 
(1)
     That the petition be
noted.
 
(2)      That the
Council’s findings following its investigations, and the
implementation of Option 2, be approved as follows:

 

(i)       The provision of
additional painted 20mph carriageway roundels and 20mph repeater
signs affixed to existing street furniture.

 

(ii)     
That particular attention be given to Bankfield Road when undertaking future
investigations, using the newly acquired predictive software
alongside existing methodologies, in determining the list of viable
schemes for delivery in the next financial year.

 

(iii)     That
West Yorkshire Police be informed of the petitioners’
concerns regarding speeding on Bankfield Road.

 

(3)     
That the Committee places on record its thanks to the petitioners,
acknowledges their concerns regarding the volume and speed of
traffic accessing Bankfield Road, and
notes the recurring road traffic accidents that occur at this
location during icy winter conditions.

 

(4)     
That the Committee requests that Highways Officers include
traffic?calming measures for Bankfield
Road in the annual list of schemes considered for potential Area
Committee funding, consistent with the proposal for blacktop
cushions set out in Appendix 5, page 14, of the Report of the
Strategic Director (Regeneration) to the Shipley Area Committee
meeting held on 28 January 2015 (Saltaire Roundabout Improvement
Project, Saltaire, Nab Wood and Moorhead 20mph Zones: Updates and
Petitions).

     That the lead
petitioner be advised accordingly.
