Purpose

To update Executive members on progress with
the Library Service Review.  In
particular to present the methodology and findings of a
comprehensive Needs Assessment that will inform ideas and options
for making savings, and to seek approval to proceed to stakeholder
engagement during the Summer, with a view to bringing final savings
proposals to Executive in September.

Content

Resolved –
 

(1)          
That public and trade union consultation on a proposal to save
£0.175m by reducing library opening hours be agreed.

 

(2)          
That a report to be brought back to Executive in October
reporting the outcome of that consultation, so that a decision can
be made on whether to take the proposal forward to
implementation.
 

(3)          
That it be acknowledged that the in-depth strategic review of
the Service will be provided at the October meeting of the
Executive. This will provide a new draft vision and model for the
Service.
