Purpose
To note the urgent work undertaken by officers to maintain provision of community equipment to residents following the liquidation of the Council’s community equipment supplier NRS, and to make further urgent decisions to maintain service.
Decision
Consideration was given to a report of the Executive Director Adults and Health.
DECISION –
Having considered the results of the equalities impact assessment, and having due regard to the needs set out in section 149 of the Equality Act 2010, the Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care agrees:
i) To note the urgent steps taken to date to maintain provision of service as set out in Section 1 of the report;
ii) To delegate authority to the Director of Adult Social Care Strategy and Commissioning, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care and the Director of Finance, to take all decisions necessary and enter into all necessary agreements and contracts on behalf of the Council, including but not limited to contracts with suppliers and with consortium partners, in order to ensure the continuity of the provision of community equipment and the protection of the vital interests of adults and children in the borough; and
iii) That, subject to the agreement of the Chair of the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee, the above decisions be exempt from call in for the reasons for urgency set out in paragraph 1.1 of the report.
