AGREED: that
the amendments to the Rent Smart Wales
Enforcement Policy attached to the report be approved.

Reasons for the decision

The Rent Smart Wales Enforcement Policy (which
sets out how Rent Smart Wales exercises the enforcement powers
conferred on it by the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and
Renting Homes (Fees etc.) (Wales) Act 2019) was first
approved by Cabinet in July 2017. Amendments to the policy were
approved by the Corporate Director for Resources in September 2020.
The policy is subject to periodic review which has identified that
minor updates are now required:

-
To reflect the introduction of legislation which changes
terminology used by Rent Smart Wales, namely the Renting Homes
(Wales) Act 2016 which came into force on the 1st of
December 2022.

-
To reflect lessons learnt from operational experience.
