Purpose

At its meeting on 18 September
2025 the following recommendations were agreed by
Cabinet:
 

Authorise officers to
proceed to publish proposals in accordance with section 48 of The
Schools Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013 to extend the
age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from 4-11 to 3-11 by
establishing a nursery unit as part of the school from September
2026.

 
Cabinet also noted that, prior
to implementation of the proposals, a further report will be
provided to Cabinet providing details of any objections received,
the response to those objections, and recommendations for
implementation or otherwise of the proposals.

Councillor Peter Bradbury declared a personal & prejudicial
interest in this report as a family member attends
the school and his wife is the
Chair of Governors.  Cllr Bradbury left the meeting and
did not take part in decision making related to this item.
 
RESOVLED: that
 
(i)     
the proposal to extend the age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof,
Beechley Drive, Pentrebane, Cardiff, CF5 3SG from 4-11 to 3-11
by establishing a Welsh-medium nursery unit as part of the school
from September 2026 be approved.
 
 

(ii)    
Officers be authorised to take the appropriate
actions to implement the proposal as set out in (i).
 

(iii)  
Officers be authorised to publish the decision
within 7 days of determination of the proposal.
