Appendix A and B is exempt from publication because
it contains information of the kind described in paragraphs 14 and
21 (Appendix 1) of parts 4 and 5 of Schedule 12 A to the Local
Government Act 1972
 
AGREED:
that a variation to the contract sum to enable the
final account to be agreed and paid to Encon construction following
the construction of 41 Community Living units for older persons be
approved.

Reasons for the decision

The JCT 2016 Design & Build
contract for the Leckwith (formerly Canton Community Centre)
Community Living scheme was signed with Encon Construction on 13
March 2023. During the construction period, the contract sum
increased due to a number of required changes which led to a delay
to the original timescale. The principal delay arose from the
requirement to redesign the smoke model. Additional client led
changes were also instructed, including enhanced access control,
warden call facilities, and further fire safety and security
measures that were not part of the original specification but will
improve resident safety.
