Cardiff Football Facilities Strategic Framework
July 18, 2024 Cabinet (Cabinet collective) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The current grass pitch stock
and changing facilities in the city are in much need of investment
and improvement. Current Parks maintenance resources are stretched
and diminishing annually in real terms. There is a need for
additional 3G Pitches to meet demand and reduce fixture
cancellations. The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has
requested a joint approach aligned to their ground improvement
funding scheme to deliver a step change in standards in the capital
city.

return to Cabinet for final approval.
2.
A consultation with schools and other relevant
stakeholders on the proposed Community Focused Schools 3G Playing
Pitch Policy, attached at Appendix 3, be approved.
3.
A call for Expressions of Interest from interested
local football clubs, for the potential self-management of
facilities by way of an Agreement to enable clubs to attract
investment to improve facilities, be approved.
