Purpose

Local authorities are required to
provide accommodation to homeless households in accordance with the
provisions of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.

Croydon have been awarded
funding by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local
Government (MHCLG) to provide Temporary Accommodation (TA) in the
borough, a total of
38 homes of which 36 homes shall be new homes.

The funding supports the
council to acquire good quality, and better value for money TA for
families owed a homelessness duty by local authorities.

This will reduce the usage of
poor-quality B&B accommodation and will enable local
authorities to grow their asset base and help manage local housing
pressures on an ongoing basis
