The Devon Countryside Access
Forum is a statutory local access forum. Each highway authority was required to establish a
forum under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The remit of a forum is to provide independent
advice as to the improvement of public access to land for the
purposes of open-air recreation and enjoyment.
Members are volunteers,
appointed by Devon County Council.
There are currently seventeen members who represent the interests
of land managers, access users and other relevant interests such as
tourism and conservation.
