The People Overview & Scrutiny Sub Committee scrutinises local issues and services within Havering, acting as a critical friend to policy and decision-makers. It aims to drive improvements in public services and hold local partners accountable, while also representing the concerns of the public.
The committee examines proposals, policies, and practices by questioning Cabinet Members, officers, and external partners. It develops recommendations to improve performance or respond to public consultations. These recommendations are then considered by the Overview and Scrutiny Board and may be passed to the Council, Cabinet, or other relevant bodies. The sub-committee may also establish topic groups to investigate specific areas in detail, producing reports and recommendations.
