About

The purpose of the Audit and Governance Committee is to provide independent assurance on the adequacy of the risk management framework.  This includes the associated control environment and independent scrutiny of the Council’s financial and non-financial performance to the extent that it affects the Council’s exposure to risk.  The Committee also oversees the financial reporting process.   The Committee also looks after constitutional matters and makes recommendations on these to the Council as necessary.   The Audit and Governance Committee is also responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct among local councillors, and acts as the Council’s Standards Committee.   The Audit and Governance Committee will therefore be the main body dealing with Complaints about Members breaching the Code of Conduct, following initial investigations by the Council’s Monitoring Officer.

What This Means To You   If you believe that a member of Hounslow Council has breached the Code of Conduct, complain to the Monitoring Officer by completing the breach of the member code of conduct form which can be found by following the link here:

Complain about a Councillor breaching code of conduct | Make a complaint or comment | London Borough of Hounslow   For complaints on other matters, please use the Council’s formal complaints process available elsewhere on the Council website.
