About
The Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee reviews the performance of local services related to children and young people, scrutinises decisions, and makes recommendations to improve service delivery. It acts as a critical friend, offering constructive challenge to ensure services are effective and efficient.
The committee oversees functions including education, safeguarding, family help, early years, looked-after children, youth offending, and mental health for children and young people. It considers the needs of local people, uses evidence, and promotes equalities and early intervention. Due to its focus on education, it includes co-opted parent governor representatives and representatives from the Church of England and Roman Catholic Diocese.
