Community Committees were set up in Leeds to
ensure that the views and opinions of everyone in its diverse
communities were heard and represented and informed any decision
making that took place. They hold four public meetings a year,
where Elected Members make localised decisions that affect
communities, in particular around funding for projects that address
priorities agreed by the committee.
Community Committees are involved in
engagement activity with local communities, which consider issues
that concern its residents. This local engagement may influence
decisions on things such as environmental improvements, community
safety, health & wellbeing, employment, as well as issues that
affect young people.
Areas covered by the Outer North West
Community Committee are:
·
Guiseley and Rawdon
·
Horsforth
·
Otley and Yeadon
·
Weetwood
Community Committees also have a number of
budgets that they are responsible for, allocating funding every
year for both community projects for adults and youth activities
for young people. Small grants are available for up to £1000
per ward and large grants are available for anything over
£1000 in a single ward.
