It is considered that of the bids received by the Council the bid submitted by the preferred bidder represents best value for the Council.

Decision

To select the preferred bidder to dispose of the former day care centre at Roman Way, Market Harborough. The property comprises a single storey building of 18,000 sq ft on a site of 1.86 acres, and has been declared surplus to the Council’s requirements.

Alternative options considered

The property was advertised for sale on the open market by informal tender and a range of offers was received. The highest unconditional bid was accepted, which is considered to be reflective of the property’s market value.The property is a registered Asset of Community Value and one community organisation submitted a bid for the property within the moratorium period. It was decided to decline this offer on grounds of best value due to the significant financial benefits of accepting the higher bid.The tenants were kept appraised of the sale and process throughout.
