The Role of the Overview and Scrutiny
Committee
The
role of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee is to provide overall
oversight and coordination of the delivery of the Scrutiny Work
Programme and scrutiny commissions it establishes to undertake its
work.
General Role
Within the relevant terms of reference, the Overview and
Scrutiny Committee and any Scrutiny Commission carrying out a
review will:
1.
Review or scrutinise any decisions made or action taken in
connection with the discharge of any of the Council’s
functions;
2.
Make reports and/or recommendations to the full Council and/or the
executive in connection with the discharge of any
functions;
3.
Consider any matter affecting the area or its
inhabitants;
4.
Exercise the right to call in, for reconsideration, decisions made
but not yet implemented by the Executive.
