KEY DECISION
 

That the Executive:
 

a)   
Approved the North Northamptonshire Housing Strategy
2025-2030 as set out at Appendix A.
 

b)   
Delegated to the Executive Director Adults, Health
Partnerships and Housing in consultation with the Leader of the
Council to progress with the strategy and the objectives as set out
in the Strategy Delivery Plan.
 
Reasons for
Recommendations:

To ensure that North
Northamptonshire Council has a clear strategy and delivery plan to
support residents and meet changing housing needs and the local and
national increase in housing demand.
 

Alternative Options Considered

Option 1 (not recommended): Continue “as-is” without the strategic framework
of a housing strategy for North Northamptonshire Council. This is
not recommended as a local authority we have a unique opportunity
to shape housing sustainability across the county.  Changing regulation and demand requires a new and
enhanced focus on housing and housing delivery. Developing and
delivering against core strategies is an important part of ensuring
that council services and provision remain relevant and support our
residents to lead the best lives possible.

Option 2 (recommended):
Approve the final Housing Strategy and Delivery Plan (as set out in
Appendix A) that has been developed following extensive
engagement and co-production. This is the recommended option and is
based on best practice approaches, utilising co-production as part
of the development of the draft strategy.
