Additional carriageway
resurfacing sites to extend the 2025/ 26 programme of carriageway
surfacing, to include sites which we were unable to be included due
to the budget constraints. In the 2025/26 Annual Plan a limited
budget is available for Surface and Patching, and Surface
Treatments. This additional funding will allow the next priority
sites from the HEAT list to be completed, as listed
below:

Replacement of weak bridge
deck located on Station Road, Earls Barton and bring it up to
current design standards to take modern traffic loading and improve
the vehicle restraint system. The bridge has a capacity of 7.5
Tonnes assessment live loading. The bridge carries dump trucks
hauling aggregates from the nearby quarry along Grendon
Road/Station Road to the A45 and is economically important to the
local area. The works would include the resurfacing of the road on
either side to address surface defects largely caused by the HGV
movements.
The start of phased
re-waterproofing and expansion joint replacement of the reinforced
concrete viaduct. The viaduct was constructed in
1936 and is in relatively good condition but needs major works to
preserve its integrity and ensure it is fully functional for many
years to come. While work will be required for all 9 decks over the
coming years, Deck 7 is the priority as it has had repeated
occurrences of damaging potholes developing.
We have 154 VAS signs on NNC
asset list which were installed between 2005 & 2025 of which
122 have exceeded their expected end of life date. The aim is to
replace non-functional or partially functional
VAS’s with new more efficient signs displaying
same legends (messages) and retained at the same locations. The
£0.270m allocation represents 50% of the planned programme,
with the remainder anticipated to come from a future Local
Transport Grant allocation.
Partial closure of the road
between residential properties and local business, thus improving
quality of life in making the location feel safer. This location is
consistently affected by fly tipping offences due to its location
adjacent to the A509 – Kettering Road. In addition, to the
fly tipping offences, it is also habitually used for other
anti-social behaviour and crime.
To introduce traffic calming /
safety measures on Kettering Road in vicinity of the Corby
Household Waste Recycling Centre. This is to address ongoing issues
around the access and queues on the highway leading to poor driving
practices creating dangerous conditions.
A section of the Ise Valley
Greenway in Weekley on Boughton Estates land. We have prices and
the permission to do the necessary works on this section of the Ise
Valley Greenway which was identified and subject to an interim
design study in 2023. It provides 600metres of
off-road safer access with stunning views of Boughton Estate,
taking users off the A6003 by the busy roundabout and giving them
direct access into Weekley, the Star Pond, the Tearoom and through
the village to enhance not only the Greenway network but support
the rural economy.
The longstanding request to
provide a controlled pedestrian crossing across the busy A509 would
allow the residents of Wilby access to the amenities of
Wellingborough on foot (particularly Sainsburys). There are
currently no alternatives on foot other than to cross the A509 and
this may be resulting in an increased number of car
trips.
The project would aim to
deliver two bus lane camera enforcement systems. One in Newland
Street, Kettering and the other in Arnsley Road,
Corby. The bid would cover all costs: Procurement of two individual
systems; Installation of the cameras; Change to the Traffic
Regulation Orders to ensure enforcement could take place
successfully; and Installation of compliant signage.
