Purpose

North Northamptonshire Council
recognises the importance of improving the Design and Technology
and Food Technology Block.  The current accommodation is no longer fit for
purpose and able to deliver the modern curriculum
requirements.

To agree that North
Northamptonshire Council:

 

Approve and sign the Grant Funding
Agreement for the refurbishment of the Design and Technology and
Food Technology Block at Huxlow Academy to address outdated
equipment and limited classroom space which limit the
school’s capacity to offer effective practical
and theory-based lessons.  

 

Approval provided at Strategic
Children’s/Capital Board on 23rd
June and noted at Executive on
2nd
July 2025 under 5b.1 -The request
from the Board was to drawdown S106 funding of £450,000 to
provide the first phase of the redevelopment of design technology,
science and ICT facilities as the current accommodation is no
longer fit for purpose and able to deliver the modern curriculum
requirements.   

 

As per 09. Part 6. Contract
Procedure Rules – 2.4.1.2 Contract over £250,000 but
less than £1,000,000 can be signed by the Chief Officer or
Officer with appropriate delegated authority and the Chief
Financial Officer.  

 

And/or Section 34 of the
Constitution Financial Regulations states 34.2 The Chief Officer is
responsible for ensuring that all necessary approvals are obtained
before external funding agreements are concluded, and the
subsequent grant claims submitted to external funders are lawful,
accurate, in accordance with the funder’s eligibility
criteria and submitted with due regard to the Council’s
continuing commitment to the project.
