development plan system and the Local Plan Timetable is updated
accordingly.

KEY DECISION
 
That the Executive:
 

i)         
Agreed that work on the Local Plan
for the period 2024-2045 will be progressed under the new
development plan system (Option B) when regulations are in force
early in 2026.

 

ii)       
Delegated authority to the
Executive Director for Place & Economy, in consultation with
the Executive Member for Planning and Economic Growth (and where
appropriate, seeking the views of the Local Plan Member Advisory
Group), to: prepare and update the Local Plan timetable; prepare
and undertake a scoping consultation; and prepare and submit a
Gateway 1 self-assessment of readiness for plan-making.

 

 

Reason for Recommendations –
Option B will allow a new-style Local Plan to be prepared as
quickly as possible and will reduce the risks inherent in the
current system.

 

Alternative Options Considered
– Option A is to continue to prepare the Local Plan under the
current system, with the deadline for submission by
31st
December 2026. This presents a
number of risks and for that reason is not recommended.
