RESOLVED

That Council

i)
Approve the Corporate Parenting
Strategy

ii)
Incorporates this Strategy in the
Policy Framework to ensure it receives appropriate political
prominence and oversight and if approved delegate authority to the
Director of Law and Governance (Monitoring Officer) to update the
Constitution to incorporate this recommendation

iii)
Note that an implementation plan
and associated resource considerations is being developed and will
be implemented following strategy approval.

Reason for Recommendations –
To ensure the Council fulfils its statutory corporate parenting
duties and provides a clear, whole?council strategic framework for supporting
children in care and care?experienced young people.

Alternative Options Considered -
Not approving the strategy would leave the Council without an
up?to?date
framework for fulfilling its responsibilities and would not reflect
best practice guidance from the Local Government Association
promoting whole?council engagement and strong governance
oversight.
