Decision
Purchase of the entrance driveway to Red Kite Academy from the developer of the site, (Keepmoat) with a subsequent lease being granted to the academy.
The land on which the actual school sits is already owned by NNC & a lease is currently being drafted by solicitors.
Reasons for the decision
The purchase will allow for the full access & maintenance rights on the land leading into the school to be obtained. Currently the school has only access over the land and when the roads within the remainder of the housing estate are adopted this will be the only remaining area of land remaining with the developer, but only used by the school.
c.10 years ago NNC sold / transferred part of the old Beanfield academy. Part went to make Red Kite Special School and the remainder was sold to Keepmoat to build houses. Red Kite have been in occupation for c8 years and do not yet have a lease on the school, this is now with solicitors to document. However the access road into the school wasn't agreed as part of the school site at the time of the transfer, it was just agreed with access rights for the school to pass over it/the estate roads. The entrance way is only used by the school & it contains the gate entry access systems etc, so should really be part of the school grounds. It has been agreed with Keepmoat to transfer it to NNC for £1 and then we will do a lease to the school to match with the main site.
