KEY DECISION
 

That
the Executive reviewed and
approved adoption of the Local Air Quality Strategy.
 
 

Reason for Recommendations:
 

·      
North Northamptonshire Council does not have an air
quality management area and choosing this option ensures that
Council departments act in unison to ensure that air pollution
remains below legal limits.

·      
It is more cost-effective to respond pro-actively to
maintain and reduce air pollution levels than to allow air
pollution to deteriorate.

 

Alternative Options Considered:
 

·      
To not publish a Local Air Quality Strategy. The
Council is not under a legal obligation to produce a Local Air
Quality Strategy. This option was not chosen because DEFRA expects
local authorities to take preventative action through adopting a
local Air Quality Strategy.
