Purpose

To seek the Executive’s endorsement of
the Leader of the Council’s decision to adopt the Bus Service
Improvement plan that supports improvements to bus services and
measures to improve passenger experience

RESOLVED
 
KEY DECISION
 

That
the Executive endorsed the decision made by the Leader of the
Council following the publication of a Regulation 11 Notice to
approve and adopt the Bus Service Improvement Plan 2024 in
Appendix A.
 
 
Reasons for Recommendations:

 

·      
To improve bus services for North Northamptonshire
communities, enable more communities to have a bus service and
minimise the risk of any communities losing their bus
service;
·      
To facilitate climate and environmental benefits
through increasing bus use and the operation of more low emission
buses;
·      
To contribute to the implementation of the
Northamptonshire Transportation Plan (the Local Transport
Plan);

·      
To enable the Council to access the funding being
made available by Government to support the National Bus
Strategy.

 

 

Alternative Options Considered – The Council
could choose not to update the BSIP however this would affect the
authority’s ability to access external funding and would not
be in the best interest of the community.  As the updated BSIP is a condition of the award of
the £2.045m BSIP Ph3 funding for 2024/25, DfT could require
repayment of this funding.
