Content
The Executive Director of Environment
& Community Services has approved the opening up of applications from residents for the
installation of cable gullies in the pavement, allowing electric
vehicles to be charged safely at kerbside from a home electrical
supply.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 - To proceed with accepting
applications for cable gullies, as per the decision
Option 2 - The alternative would be to not permit use of cables via
gully products. This would mean fewer people having access to EV
charging and risk more residents running cables illegally over the
highway. A trial of these products has raised no significant
issues, hence the decision to proceed with opening applications
from residents more widely.
