Purpose

The Council installed a cycle scheme on Manor
Road, Twickenham Road and Strawberry Vale earlier this year which
enabled the delivery of a valuable part of the boroughs cycle
network to support active travel.

When the consultation was undertaken on the original scheme in
2021, a key comment from residents was the desire to see more
pedestrian improvements, and so an additional element was added to
the proposals. This included junction narrowing and the
introduction of raised tables at the vehicle accesses to Regatta
House and Admiral House to improve pedestrian access. In addition,
the existing off-road cycle track would be extended to provide a
safer off-road cycle facility on Manor Road past both junctions.

Unfortunately, sufficient funding was not available to progress
this element alongside the main project completed earlier this
financial year. However, in September, Transport for London
provided additional monies for this work on the understanding the
works could be delivered by the end of March 2024 (the end of the
financial year).

The SSA Director of Environment and Community
Services:

i) Acknowledges that there was no representation received from
residents either for or against the scheme as outlined on the
drawing in APPENDIX A.
ii) Agrees to introduce the proposed measures with construction to
start early 2024.
