Purpose

A report providing an overview of the work
completed with the £139k uplift in 22/23, plus how to sustain
the effort to tackle VAWG and keep Richmond safe from both
anti-social behaviour and tackle VAWG.

Content

RESOLVED:
 
The Finance,
Policy and Resources Committee resolved to:
 

a) 
note the positive action taken thus far to enhance
the response to VAWG through the funding agreed by the Committee in
February 2022. 
 

b) 
Approve the separation of the advocacy and the
refuge elements of the current domestic abuse commissioned services
contract and approve the retendering of the advocacy
service.
 

c) 
Approve additional budget of £77,600 in
2024/25, £154,600 in 2025/26 and  £77,000 in
2026/27 and a full year to ensure longer term sustainability of the
Council’s commissioned advocacy services and extension of the
VAWG  Community Safety Officer to ensure
continued delivery of a key safeguarding  service and continue to deliver the enhanced
approach of the safety of women and girls in public space as set
out in Table 4.
 

d) 
Approve a positive General Fund revenue budget
variation of £17,500 in 2023/24, £35,000 in 2024/25 and
£17,500 in 2025/26 to fund the two-year pilot of enhanced
CCTV and police radio monitoring within the JCC through the
addition of CCTV monitoring officers.
