Post-16 Education Provision
September 14, 2023 Education and Children's Services Committee (Committee) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To note the sufficiency of post-16 education
provision in the borough.
Content
RESOLVED that the Committee noted:
a)
the high rate of participation in education, employment and
training for young people post-16 and the low number of young
people whose destinations were not known or who were not in
education, employment or training;
b)
the current education and training provision for young people aged
16 to 18, or up to 25 if the young person has a special educational
need or disability (SEND), and the Director of Children’s
Services’ assessment that this is suitable and sufficient to
meet the local authority’s responsibilities but that some
members had reservations about the fullness of the data;
c)
that further work to expand apprenticeships for all young people
aged 16 to 18, and to increase vocational opportunities for young
people with SEND, through supported internships and apprenticeships
was in progress.
