About

The Overview and Scrutiny function is a central element to modern decision-making. The Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee has four key functions:   1. Holding the Executive (Cabinet) to Account (a ‘critical friend’); 2. Policy Development and Policy Review; 3. Review of Council Services (Performance Monitoring); and 4. External Scrutiny (of other agencies providing local services).   Detailed scrutiny work is undertaken by Task and Finish Groups established by the Committee to look into a particular issue or problem and report back with recommendations.   The work that overview and scrutiny committees carry out should be informed by the priorities of residents. To ask a question at a meeting, please email committeemanagers@stratford-dc.gov.uk.   Further information on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee can be found under the Terms of Reference for the Committee (part 3 of the Council’s Constitution - The Constitution)   Meetings of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee are recorded and can be found on the Stratford-on-Avon District Councils YouTube channel.
