Purpose

part of the second floor at Nexus House, Gatwick Road, Crawley.
Approval of this item cannot be deferred
because the prospective tenant has set a hard longstop of 9
February 2026 and requires the Agreement for Lease to be signed
pre Christmas. This allows Surrey
County Council to immediately instruct the five week landlord
subdivision works required as part of the lease. Any delay would
jeopardise meeting these contractual milestones, resulting in the
loss of the prospective tenant at a financial loss to Surrey County
Council.
This item will be dealt with under the Special
Urgency rule as it has not had the required 28 days’ notice
on the Forward Plan. The relevant Select Committee Chairman has
been notified of the intention to make this decision.
