Full council record

Purpose

To
recommend to Full Council that a Community Governance Review (CGR)
of the Borough’s six unparished areas (Culverden, Pantiles,
Park, Sherwood, St James’, and St John’s) be
conducted.  The report will include the
timetable and Terms of Reference for the CGR.

Decision

RESOLVED – That Full Council be
recommended:

That a Community Governance Review of the unparished
urban areas of Tunbridge Wells be conducted, in accordance with the
Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 be
approved.

That the Terms of Reference, which includes details
of the review area and review timetable, as set out in Appendix A
to the report be approved.

That the Director of Finance, Policy and Development
and Head of Governance and Democratic Services (in consultation
with the Leader of the Council) be authorised to take all necessary
steps in relation to the review be approved.

That the Devolution and Structural Change Working
Group be authorised to develop options for the review, make draft
recommendations for public consultation and final recommendations
to Full Council be approved.

REASON FOR DECISION:  Good practice recommended that a
periodic review was undertaken every 10 to 15 years.  No review of the Review Area had been undertaken
in that time and was therefore overdue.
