Purpose

The
Government had changed the legislation on the backdating of
Discretionary Rate Relief to non-profit making organisations and
charities.  This report gives options
for the backdating of Non Domestic Discretionary Rate
Relief.

Decision

RESOLVED – That Full Council be
recommended

 
1. That
the change to the backdating of Discretionary Rate Relief to a
maximum period of 12 months be approved.
 
2. That
the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Relief Policy for 2024/25 be
approved.
 
3. That
a full review of the policy is carried out in 2024/25 be
approved.

 
REASON FOR DECISION:.  To provide a simpler and fairer
system for businesses to understand.
